As of April 20, 220, Global COVID-19 infected cases have risen to 2,529,150 and fatalities reached 174,578. The US had 803,018 cases and 43,558 deaths due to the coronavirus. While Israel had 13,883 and 181 deaths There are disputes as to whether the social distancing mitigation has reached the point where gradual phased releases from confinement may shortly be feasible given the drop in new cases indicating plateauing may have been achieved in the major US infected states and hot spots. Some public health experts say ending confinement may be dependent on continual testing and contact tracing. Then there is the matter of the timeline for development of promising therapies and vaccines and, yet to complete human trials. However, there are conspiracy theories of whether the release of the coronavirus was part of a nefarious plan in a bio-war effort by Chinese virology institutes engaged in studies of SARS-COVID 2 from Bat and other animal studies. Or whether these coronaviruses were man – made as suggested by French Nobel laureate Luc Montagnier or arose naturally and may have been transmitted from animals in the Wuhan ‘wet market’ located near the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV). There is the matter of criticism of the World Health Organization leadership to cross-check these occurrences, as well as initially going along with the XI- Chinese government initial reports that nothing was awry. Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon brought back Stephen Bryen, a former US Department of Defense Deputy Under Secretary for Technology and Security, noted military technologist and widely published Asia Times columnist to address these questions. Bryen suggested that the Hubei regional Chinese government officials may have attempted to close off news leaking out. As evidence of the coronavirus spread, the XI regime in Beijing became mortified. That led to indications that there was no big outbreak. Their mistake, Bryen said, was that they did not properly notify the world and did not engage the US. He dismisses conspiracy theories that China was developing a bioweapon seeking domination of the world economic system. That was not in the best interests of China. The spread of the coronavirus was through Chinese commercial travelers to Italy and hence to the EU. He noted the Chinese textile and leather trades in Northern Italy. There were direct flights from Wuhan to Milan, Italy. To deal with the spread of the coronavirus, Rod Bryant indicated that China had shut down internal flights. The WIV, Bryen contends was engaging in international research that the XI- government believed had economic potential. China is a major supplier of ingredients for anti-biotics and medical treatments that resulted from globalization. India is another source of vaccines and medicines. Bryen noted the call from President Trump made to India’s President Modi seeking large quantities of hydroxychloroquine for US trials as a possible coronavirus therapy. Bryen thinks this reflects the shift of production that previously had been in the US and, because of tax advantages in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. He suggests that the US should foster development of a critical supply chain by either shifting production to other centers or re-establishing production facilities in the US. Bryen delved into the background of the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV or the Lab) investigation into SARS COVID viruses. The WIV is a Bio Safety Level -4 (BSL-4) designated facility authorized to conduct investigation into dangerous pathogens. The Bat population studies were conducted by Ms. Shi Zhengli under auspices of both Chinese and US NIH funding. A report she had prepared published in 2015, co-authored with US and other experts, dealt with the Bat SARS COVID -2 virus injected into mice. The WIV produced major scientific papers on AIDS-HIV, Ebola, and coronaviruses with co-authors from Canada, France, and the US. Those papers included research into primate and human transmission. In 2018, a US Embassy team, including a Science Attaché, visited the WIV and found safety violations that they documented warning of a potential pandemic. WIV was not the only BSL-4 facility with such problems. Bryen drew attention to the closure of the US Army Fort Detrick Bio-weapons research facility in 2019 for two months. Moreover, a moratorium on conduct of research into dangerous pathogens at Fort Detrick and elsewhere was issued in 2014 and not lifted until 2017. One of the controversial theories as to what might have occurred at the WIV is the suggestion of French Nobel Laureate Luc Montagnier, associated with the Pasteur Institute. He thought that the WIV might have attempted to culture SARs COVID-2 with HIV virus, which may have produced the COVID-19 virus. Moreover, Montagnier said that because it was man made it may have a half-life of eight weeks or perhaps a little more. As noted by Bryen’s Asia Times colleague David P. Goldman in an article on this subject “Defense Secretary Mike Espers told a television interview that “a majority of the views right now is that it is natural, organic”. Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the US National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases and White House Coronavirus Task Force member, referred to a Scripps Research study indicating “that highly qualified virologists looked at the sequences in bats as they evolve. The mutations that it took to get to the point where it is now totally consistent with a jump of a species from an animal to human”. Bryen criticized the WHO leadership of Dr. Tedros for essentially parroting the diversionary Chinese statement that the coronavirus was not communicable with humans. Bryen thinks the WHO, funded by the US at $550 million annually, should replace Tedros and bring in a qualified public health and medical leader and a functional professional staff. We note that the staff of the US Center for Defense against Communicable Diseases (USCDC) seconded to the WHO in Geneva provided the first accurate assessment of the coronavirus pandemic. Notwithstanding, Bryen drew attention to reports of the contamination of tests with the coronavirus virus by staff of the US CDC thus causing a critical delay in providing test kits. As regarding tests to lift confinement Bryen thinks priority should be given to nursing homes, prisons, and the military with spot sampling of populations in hot spots. Bryen discussed the research of Tel Aviv University Professor and Israel Prize winner, former Israel Air Force general Itzhak Ben Israel who had developed a mathematical model of the coronavirus that defined a curve with a 40 days to peak, followed by a 70 days half-life.

He was called “Lampshade” for criticizing the lurid anti-Semitic paintings of Italian Catholic painter Giovanni Gasparro. In a painting produced recently, at the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020, Gasparro depicted the fraudulent “blood libel” ritual murder of Christian baby Simon of Trent that triggered the 1475 murder of 15 Jews. He posted images of his work on the internet during the Coronavirus Pandemic of 2020. The target of this internet attack was Dexter Van Zile, Shillman Research Fellow for Boston-based Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting and Analysis (CAMERA). From this vantage point, Van Zile defends the Jewish people and their homeland from defamation. His message is a simple one: “When you falsely depict Israel as a genocidal nation and an enemy of human rights, you demonize Jews as a genocidal and marauding people, who are threats to the societies in which they live. Demonizing Israel legitimizes violence against Jews no matter where they live.” Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon of Israel News Talk Radio Beyond the Matrix brought back Van Zile. They discuss why classic imagery of medieval anti-Semitism is rising again during the catastrophic COVID-19 Pandemic. Numerous commentators in Europe, the Middle East and even in the U.S. falsely accuse Jews, Israel and the US of being behind and profiting from the Global Pandemic that at last count, has infected over 2 million cases and killed more than 125,000. And yet, the discussion shows Jewish heritage as symbolic of the spark and hope of resilience in the face of the dangers and threats to existence. It is the anchor that has allowed Jews to persist for millennia to deal with realities not false utopias during such stressful times. It is among the important lessons learned from confinement staying at home with children in an enforced shabbat instilling closer family ties while isolated yet connected through virtual communal worship services. The anti-Semitic art of Gasparro, as Van Zile noted has been criticized by Catholic authorities. Gasparro’s lurid picture is in a private collections but promoted on the artist’s Face book page. Van Zile said the blood libel painting depict ”evil hook-nosed Jews as morally degenerate bent on torturing baby Simon of Trent, stealing his blood”. By contrast, Gasparro also paints Jesus, who was a Jew, as a European of noble mien. Van Zile accuses Gasparro of giving vent to a “supersessionist impulse drawing Jesus away from the Jewish people”. Van Zile noted the anti-Semitic overtones of the COVID-19 Pandemic, saying “everything old is new again”. He cited a recent cartoon of a former French health ministry official, who is Jewish, depicting her as poisoning a well, just as Jews were accused of poisoning wells during the Black Death of the bubonic plague of the 14th Century. The implication was that she was somehow responsible for the COVID-19 Pandemic. The image went viral in France. The false accusations Van Zile says are “that the Pandemic is the creation of Jews, Israel and the US”. Further, there’s this notion that “isn’t it interesting that Jews and Israel are making a vaccine. Surely, they must have known this was coming. That the Rothschilds were making money off big pharma. That Jews were making it a tough time for the rest of the world” to address the COVID-19 crisis.. Van Zile cited a high-ranking Catholic official in Romania quoted New Testament passage that described followers of Jesus as being afraid of Jews just as people today are afraid of the COVID-19 virus. Effectively, Van Zile describes this as “medieval anti-Jewish theology being rebroadcast using modern social media and technology. Thus, giving rise to conspiracy theories that Jews are the underpinnings of all things negative.” Gordon noted that genetic detective work in the 21st Century with the bacteria that caused the medieval plagues that lasted five centuries indicated that it originated in China, as did the COVID-19 Pandemic. There is increasing evidence that the Chinese Communist regime bears responsibility for covering up what may have been the coronavirus human transmission evidence. Van Zile suggests that the progressive obsession with Israel is a strategic liability for the West because it blinds them to other issues that threaten world peace, such as the Sunni-Shia conflict in the Middle East. This obsession also diverts attention from the Chinese regime’s threats to the international system. China was allowed into the international organizations in the vain hope that such policies might liberalize China. Instead China corrupted the institutions it joined. The latest example is the World Health Organization where the Chinese vote influenced the election of the current Director, Dr. Tedros, a former official of the Ethiopian Marxist Mengistu regime. He appears to have gone along with the XI-regime misrepresentations about the origins and spreading of the COVID-19 Pandemic via international flights out of Wuhan. The discussion delved into the question of what happens when the COVID-19 Pandemic ends. Van Zile noted that during medieval plagues, pogroms broke out. Now, anti-Semites are surfing the internet searching out every anti-Israel, anti-Semitic outrage to feed their paranoia. For these people, Van Zile says, “searching for meaning supersedes truth”. Both Van Zile and Bryant suggested that scripture fosters a Jewish history of facing reality to fend off chaos and civilizational crises such as the 1918 Influenza Epidemic, World War II and the Holocaust. However, young Jews may not know that history. Van Zile cited a Christian friend who recently visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem. He was shocked at the reactions of young Israelis shocked at the depiction of the horrors of Nazi Death Camps in the exhibits. Bryant asked Van Zile what he would say to such young Jews. He replied: “Jews have had a very difficult time living as a minority in the West. It has only been the US and Israel where Jews have felt safe. BDS is part of a psychological campaign to force you to abandon your Jewish heritage and identity, distancing you from the modern State of Israel. It is propaganda driving Jews from the public square not coming to the defense of fellow Jews in Israel. Walking away from fellow Jews has a civilizational consequence, Then no one is safe. It allows anti-Semitism to take hold”. Many people are offended by Israel because it disconfirms their beliefs about the perfectibility of the world, Van Zile says. Jews and Israel have had to deal with the world as a tragic place with self-preservation and self-defense rather than utopia. These established principles were anchored in scriptural realities ensuring Jewish heritage and resilience in the face of dire civilizational threats.

To understand what is happening in Europe during the coronavirus Pandemic, Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon reached out to long term American ex-pat in Paris, writer, translator, journalist and author, Nidra Poller. Poller and Gordon have known each other for over 17 years when they first they met in Boston when Poller was involved in the Mohammed al Dura affair investigations and reporting on jihadist murders of fellow Jews in France. We last interviewed Poller about the disruptive Gillet Jaunes “Yellow Vests” protests of workers in France with demonstrable anti-Semitic attacks. To our surprise, we found out that Poller had suffered symptoms of a COVID-19 attack – dry cough, lack of taste, fever, fatigue that took her 10 days to gradually recover. This prompted her to begin a daily journal of what it was like under total confinement in Paris now in its third week. The interview occurred just before Passover, that disrupted Poller’s plans including the delayed visit of a new grandchild from Los Angeles. According to Coronavirus reports compiled by Johns Hopkins University on the date of our interview with Poller, April 6th, France ranked sixth in the world with over 98,839 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 8,078 deaths. The world had over 1, 274,265 cases and over 69, 971 deaths; the US had 336,830 cases and 9, 618 deaths, most of the latter were reported in the New York ‘hotspot’. Israel had 8,403 cases of COVID-19 and 49 fatalities. But those numbers have changed dramatically in less than 48 hours and the possible plateauing given the increasing extent of confinement. Poller is skeptical about the figures, as they may not be reflective of testing, or cases like her’s who experienced the symptoms of COVID-19 but recovered without hospitalization. She said colleagues who wrote from the US at the end of February and early March saying, “What is all this fuss about a thing that is causing a common cold or a little bit of the flu?” But she was getting information from Japan through her husband Jiro and others in Asia to take it more seriously. Then on March 8th she started to have a dry cough like she never had. A strange dry cough twisting her chest muscles and she couldn’t taste food, then she noted when she took her temperature it began to rise. As Poller told us, Paris was the hotspot in France, and that confinement was having a demonstrable effect in that the death toll was decreasing. The French according to her were doing an effective job of shutting things down as their hospitals had not been overwhelmed. Unlike the US, polls in France she noted posted a 98% approval for confinement which she noted was very strict. Each person must carry a form with their name, address, date and place of birth, the date and time they go out. They are allowed out for only one hour each day to buy necessities and for a bit of exercise and fresh air but must remain within one kilometer of their designated residence. She noted that in her neighborhood few shops are open where you can buy food. You don’t walk into the shop; you stand in front. People have masks or plastic screen. You don’t pay in cash, but with a card. In many places they are checked and if found in violation are fined. If they rebel, they can be sentenced to jail with no right of appeal. The drug dealers she noted are really put out about confinement. You can’t jump into your car, take a plane, except for emergencies, as the Schengen borders are closed across the EU. Orly Airport is closed. The strictness, she noted had a benefit, the hospitals are not overwhelmed. She says, “This means that people who could recover are getting everything possible to recover”. While she and others are confined, they are still in contact with the outside world. The pandemic is not without its instances of Anti-Semitism and Islamic terrorism. Poller noted that the French Health Minister and his wife are Jewish and have been attacked for not relenting to calls for permitting the use of the controversial immune suppressive and anti-malarial drug, hydroxychloroquine developed during World War II. She noted the limited ‘anecdotal’ trials by a respected French medical researcher at the University of Marseilles have triggered the controversy in France – paralleling calls for its use in the US by the President and others. Poller contends that what is required are controlled clinical trials to establish credible efficacy and safety, without triggering adverse side effects, of hydroxychloroquine. The interim and ultimate solutions may lie with development of credible antibodies therapies and vaccines several of which are under development in the US and in Israel. Poller drew our attention to the attack during national confinement by a Sudanese refugee in southeastern France with several killed and injured. Reviews by police investigators of his writings revealed hatred of Kuffirs, meaning infidels – evidence of Islamic Jihadism ideology. In the meantime, Poller endeavors to compile a daily chronicle of her views of what is occurring during the COVID-19 Pandemic in France, the UK, the US and Israel.

In a time of controversy & bewilderment, we must take the time to reflect, and know where this world is headed.

The Coronavirus Pandemic has upset normal life, isolating and unnerving literally hundreds of millions in more than 192 countries. More than 378,342 cases of the COVID-19 virus have occurred with more than 16,872 fatalities. The epicenter has moved from Italy, Spain, France and the UK to the US. The latter with more than 52,215 cases of coronavirus confirmed by lab tests and 675 deaths. New York has become the hot spot with 25,665 of the US COVID-19 cases. 8 US States are under home stay lock-down covering more than one third of the country’s population. India has declared a lock-down for its 1.8 billion population. Israel has 1,442 cases with 3 fatalities, and possible exposures of up to one million. Rod Bryant and Jerry Gordon reached out to discuss these issues with Tevi Troy, Presidential historian, former US Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services, member of a Presidential bipartisan ‘blue ribbon’ panel on Bioterror who was Bush 43 White House aide. He is the author of several books on the Presidency, notably, “Shall We Wake the President? Two Centuries of Disaster Management from the Oval Office” (2016) and “Fight House: Rivalries in the White House from Truman to Trump”. He comes from a noted family. His brother Gil Troy is a noted historian who has authored over 10 books and is a columnist for The Jerusalem Post. His brother Dan Troy is a lawyer and former Chief Counsel at the FDA, an expert in health law and food and drug policies. In his 2016 “Shall We Wake the President” Troy predicted the conundrum we currently face with the coronavirus threat. “I was raising this issue of coronavirus and I said, we have vaccines and countermeasures and antivirals for flu, but we do not have them for coronavirus, and we need to develop them. I don't know why the US government hasn't moved faster on that. I think that there are larger issues at play in terms of prioritizing development of countermeasures”. Because of his membership in a Presidential Bioterror panel co- by former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge and former Connecticut US Senator Joseph Lieberman, he emphasizes the importance of “tabletop” simulation exercises. Something that Israel practices in developing national security strategies and policies. Troy cited one example from a “dirty bomb” exercise of relevance to the current coronavirus crisis. “You can't just go into these high-pressure government environments and be thrown into a crisis and told to deal with the situation. You must know what each agency's role is, what their capabilities are, what are some of the legal pitfalls that you might encounter. I remember one specifically involving a dirty bomb attack in the Southwest. It spawns a sickness in the Midwest. What do you do? A problem that we did not anticipate before we started the simulation was the degree to which hospitals were overrun. Not just overrun with people who are sick but overrun with what's known as the ‘worried well’. People who think they might have a symptom because they heard something on TV, or they want to check it out to be sure. “Worried well” is something that we've been seeing as a challenge with coronavirus. People who think that they have a problem, they're going to the hospital. This is just the wrong thing to do because, if they don't have it, it could expose them to it. If they do have it, they could be exposing others to it. I think these simulations are extremely helpful”. Troy is skeptical of government’s ability to help the individual in the timeframe in which the help would be required. “I think that the government has an important role to play, but individuals must also prepare for disasters and cannot count on the government to bail them out when they are in trouble”. Here are some of his practical suggestions. “There are things that you can think about like, "Maybe, I didn't have enough water. Maybe I do need something else for home protection. Maybe I should have a more secure lock. Maybe I should make sure that the kids have their vaccinations up to date. I should have my first aid kit ready”. There are all kinds of things that you can think about going on with current crisis that you should be prepared for. One thing that is interesting in this crisis is supermarkets are still open. You can go to a supermarket and get food except for a few products like toilet paper. ... These are not strategies for you to live forever. These are strategies for you to get through a brief period when the government may not be able to help you as an individual until the system reasserts itself and then the brilliance of markets allow the supermarkets to be replenished and you can be able to access them”. One of worst Presidents Troy cites is Woodrow Wilson who compounded the 1918 Flu Epidemic. “There was a propaganda arm in the United States government led by George Creel. This propaganda arm was designed to help fight World War I by suppressing any dissent or bad news. It restricted any discussion of the 1918 flu that raged and killed 675,000 Americans. People didn't have open conversations about it as we are having in newspapers today. We were sending US troops to Europe to fight World War I. Those troop transports were spreading the disease among the US military personnel and among the people of Europe. Wilson's personal doctor urged him to stop those troop transports and they had a showdown in the White House where the Army Chief of Staff said, "No, we cannot stop these troop transports, they are too urgent, there's... The war's going on." It was only one month before the war ended, but Wilson went along with the Army Chief of Staff, he continued to troop transports and out of the 116,000 US military personnel who died in World War I, 43,000 of them died from the flu”. Troy contrasted the performance of St. Louis versus Philadelphia during the 1918 Flu Epidemic. “St. Louis instituted social distancing, like what we're seeing today. They said, "No large church services, no parades, no movie theaters." Philadelphia failed to do so. They waited for two crucial weeks and let people get together, they let certain parades take place. The death rate in St. Louis was 1/5 that of Philadelphia”. Troy also discussed a few incidents of conflicts between Presidents and aides in his latest book, “Fight House”. In 1948 President Truman was briefed by Chief of Staff Clark Clifford on the rationale for recognizing the new State of Israel against the objections of Secretary of State and World War II Army Chief of Staff George Marshall. The result was Marshall never spoke to Truman for the rest of his life. A poignant aspect of the current coronavirus Pandemic impacted Troy and his brothers recently, the ability to hold a minyan following the recent death of their late mother, the subject of a recent Wall Street Journal opinion. He noted the advice of his rabbi. “He said it is more important to be following the rules and preventing the spread of this disease and saving lives than to say Kaddish which is a custom, but not a law. And then on top of it, he said that I should do some Jewish learning with each prayer service that I do individually, in order to honor the soul of my mother”.

The Coronavirus Pandemic has disrupted but not stopped Iran’s proxy war machine. More than 14,000 have been infected and over 1,000 fatalities caused by the spread of the novel virus in Iran. Among those infected and fatalities were several IRGC senior officers, a Senior Ayatollah and a key adviser to Ayatollah Khamenei. Conspicuous by their absence have been Ayatollah Khamenei and President Rouhani. Iran has not adopted a disciplined approach to control the community spread of the novel and deadly virus. As Lebanon is also afflicted with the coronavirus, amid a roiling economic crisis, it has announced that it will be locked down for two weeks, effectively barring travel from several countries in the Gulf region, notably Iran, The contrast is with what Israel has done to defend against the novel virus. It has implemented a partial lockdown, called up reservists in its Medical Corps to bolster its health system. Meanwhile an advanced medical research center in northern Galilee appears to have a running start on development of a promising vaccine to combat the novel coronavirus based on transfer from infected poultry to humans. Despite the onslaught of the coronavirus, Iran’s Shiite proxies in Iraq, were engaged in a rocket war with US and coalition forces bases north and south of Baghdad. It is the continuing revenge campaign by the Shiite Popular Mobilization Force Kataib Hezbollah militia, whose commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis was killed in a US drone hellfire missile attack in late December 2019 that also took out the late Quds Force Commander Qassem Soleimani. The revenge campaign began with the January 8, 2020 Iranian short-range precision ballistic missile attack on the al Asad airbase in Western Iraq that injured dozens of US personnel. Last week witnessed a series of Katyusha and Grad rocket attacks on El Taji and Bismayah coalition bases in Iraq resulting in killing of US and UK soldiers and contractors and injuring Iraqi air defense soldiers and Polish NATO trainers. These attacks brought a warning from US Defense Secretary Esper followed by launch of US coalition air attacks on Kataib Hezbollah weapons facilities that produced casualties, among them suspected IRGC officers and Shiite proxy fighters. Following these attacks, the US announced it was rushing Patriot air defense batteries to these bases that may not be effective against short range rocket, mortar and missile threats. The US Army has yet to deploy the two Iron Dome batteries it purchased from Israel’s Rafael Industries that could address this rocket threat. This conundrum about the gap in US short range rocket defense prompted Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon to bring back Dr. Stephen Bryen for wide ranging discussions about the lack of an adequate US defense against Iran and proxy precision rockets and missile, Turkey’s surprising armed drones used in Syria armed with Umtas or Mizrak missiles similar to Israel’s Spike missile . We also addressed the conflicted relations between Turkey’s Erdogan and Russia’s Putin, backer of the Assad Regime, in the battle for geo-political dominance in Syria and in Libya. Dr. Bryen is a former Reagan era Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for technical security, a noted Military Technologist and Asia Times Columnist. US Army “Cancellation” of the Israeli Iron Dome system. Bryen considers it both “incomprehensible and irresponsible” the US Army canceling the acquisition of additional Iron Dome batteries for base defense in the Middle East. He contends that deploying the Patriot batteries would be like launching a “$1 million missile to take down the equivalent of a $1,000 rocket”. He considers the alleged explanation for the cancellation that Rafael Industries refusal to supply the source codes as questionable as it is not required for integration of Iron Dome in a US layered defense system. He speculates that perhaps Raytheon, a partner in the development of Iron Dome- it supplies the sensors for the Tamir interceptors - might be angling to convince the Army to develop a competitive system. Bryen noted that Raytheon was involved in the lobbying effort with the Army that ended the billion-dollar MEADS international development program. Michael Peck writing in The National Interest blog, “Israel’s Iron Dome system has cracked” noted comments in Congressional testimony of General John Murray of the Army Future Command: "A top U.S. Army general told Congress that Iron Dome can’t be integrated into the Army’s new Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System (IBCS) air and missile defense system". “Despite Army protests, Congress in 2019 mandated the Army buy two Iron Dome batteries. But in February 2020, General John Murray, chief of Army Futures Command, told the House Armed Services Committee that Iron Dome was not compatible with IBCS. “It took us longer to acquire those two batteries than we would have liked for a lot of different reasons,” Murray testified. “We believe we cannot integrate them into our air defense system based upon some interoperability challenges, some cyber [security] challenges, and some other challenges. So, what we ended up having is two stand-alone batteries that will be very capable, but they cannot be integrated.” “My assessment right now is, it would be — and I hate to ever use the word ‘impossible’ — but exceptionally difficult to integrate Iron Dome into our layered air defense architecture [and] to get Iron Dome talk to other systems, other radars, specifically the Sentinel radar,” Murray told a reporter for Breaking Defense. “What you’re probably — almost certainly – going to see is two standalone systems, and if the best we can do is standalone systems, we do not want to buy another two batteries.” Peck noted the rebuttal to General Murray’s Armed Services Congressional testimony by Army Space and Missile Command chief Lt. General Karbler: “Yet other U.S. commanders seem to wish they could have more Iron Domes, after pro-Iranian militias in Iraq killed two Americans and one Briton in a rocket attack on Camp Taji, Iraq, on March 11th. “We know that Iron Dome has a combat-proven capability,” Lt. Gen. Daniel Karbler, head of Army Space and Missile Defense Command told Army Times. “I’ve got to assume that it would have worked, given it was in the optimal state of readiness as well as positioned to defend that particular asset.” "The more interesting question is what this means for missile defense overall. Whatever its merits or flaws, Iron Dome is the most combat-tested defense system of its kind. It has become the poster child for missile defense, offering the dream that soldiers and civilians can be protected not just from ICBMs, but also from tactical rockets and mortar shells”. Given the Grad and Kaytusha rocket attacks on US coalition bases in Iraq cited by General Karbler, Bryen’s criticism warrants Congressional Armed Services Committee oversight hearings on why Iron Dome batteries were not deployed to deal with the lethal threats of Iran’s Iraqi Shiite proxies.

Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon bring back a frequent guest, Dan Diker, Director of the Political Warfare Program at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA). They Diker's new book on "Israelophobia and the West" published by the JCPA that has caught a wave of attention in Washington and Jerusalem. Alan Dershowitz who participated in a roundtable discussion before an audience of 250 at the JCPA remarked that he considered "Israelophobia and the Wes"t as the bible on combating the new antisemitism of Israel as the Jewish state. Then there was the return of violence against Jews, that occurred in Pittsburgh, Poway, Jersey City and Monsey, New York in the US. Violence against Jews not seen since the Holocaust that took the lives of Six Million European Jews. The recent meetings in Jerusalem with the general assembly of the Council of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations (COPMAJO) and a JCPA – sponsored round table highlighted the importance of " Israelophobia and the West". . Besides, Diker as both editor and co-author, the book contains articles by a broad range of authors including Israeli Arabs, black South African Christian leaders, and US members of the Black Caucus supporters of Israel.. Diker noted that Israel is denigrated not only on US college campuses, but also by so-called ‘progressives’ in the US Congress as a “Nazi, apartheid racist state”. Israelophobia covers not only the rhetorical assault on the Jewish state of Israel but the sudden eruption of violence against individual Jews and communities, reminiscent of the Nazi final solution that took the lives of the Six million. Diker contends that the Israelophobia rhetoric assault against Israel in the mainstream media promotes lies as legitimate criticism. He noted it had in origins in the Soviet era “active measures’ in 1964 that created the classic Israelophobic rhetoric adopted by the Palestinians in the UN Resolution 3379 of 1975 that “determine[d] that Zionism is a form of racism and racial discrimination". It took until 1991 to overturn the resolution in the wake of the collapse of the Soviet Union and as a condition for Israel’s participation in the Madrid Peace Conference. However, as Diker and co-authors in "Israelophobia and the West" demonstrate, the noxious anti-Israelism canard is still used by “progressive” allies of the Palestinians. Notwithstanding, the outbreak of coronavirus in Israel, the country’s third election in a year effectively ended in a stalemate. PM Netanyahu ‘s Likud -led right wing bloc, composed of Shas, Yamina and United Torah Judaism with 58 mandates, once again failed to get the requisite 61 Knesset seats to form a ruling coalition. The Gantz -Center Left alliance, composed of the Blue White Alliance with 33 seats the Arab Joint List with 15, and Labor Gesher with 7 accounting for 55 Knesset seats. Avigdor Liberman and his right wing secular Yisrael Beiteinu party emerged once again as ‘kingmaker’. Liberman, a former foreign and defense minister in previous Netanyahu Likud governments scored 7 mandates in this election enough to prevent Netanyahu from forming a ruling coalition. The stunning spike in voter turnout by Israel’s Arab community ironically may have been spurred by the map redrawing in the Trump peace plan. Diker considers this a death knell for BDS as it reflects the community’s self-confidence seeking a larger budget for the Israel Arab community. It makes the joint list a force to be reckoned with. In Diker’s view the electoral victory of the Joint List marks a new milestone in normalization of Israel Arab and Jewish community relations. We also spoke of this third election as a possible application of Israeli law to the Jordan Valley approaches, especially control over the Judean hills to protect low lying areas along the Mediterranean Coast, especially Tel Aviv. Diker noted that Netanyahu has sought this development since his first election in 1996. Even Labor PM’s before him has espoused such a strategic move, especially in the wake of the June Six Days of War in 1967. The difference this time, Diker pointed out, is that the Trump Administration sees the importance of that security interest of Israel. However, without Netanyahu’ ability to form a new government given the looming trial on corruption charges on March 17th makes the prospect remote. Add to that is the ability of President to be re-elected for a second term in the November 2020 national elections in the US.

Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon bring back a frequent guest, Dan Diker, Director of the Political Warfare Program at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA). They discuss with Diker the apparent Netanyahu victory in the third election in a year in Israel, the rising Israeli Arab quest for normalization in the Jewish state and a new book on Israelphobia and the West published by the JCPA that has caught a wave of attention in Washington, Jerusalem. Alan Dershowitz who participated in a roundtable discussion before an audience of 250 at the JCPA remarked that he considered Israelphobia and the West as the bible on combatting the new antisemitism of Israel as the Jewish state and the return of violence against individual Jews, that occurred in Pittsburgh, Poway, Jersey City and Monsey, New York in the US. Violence against Jews not seen since the Holocaust that took the lives of Six Million European Jews.

While the results of Israel’s third election will not be available until early next week, nonetheless, it appears that with 95 percent of the vote tallied that Likud has 36 mandates versus the Blue White alliance’s 32. The Likud led right bloc composed of Shas, Agudath, other religious parties and Yamina are within striking distance of forming a possible ruling coalition with 59 mandates or seats in the Knesset. The Final tally may show perhaps another 3 to 4 Knesset seats from 100,000 votes remaining to be counted. That would cement formation of a Netanyahu ruling coalition in an unprecedented fifth term as Prime Minister. Diker note that the voter turnout was the highest since 1999. Diker attributes that result to intensive campaigning in predominating Likud base areas. That was facilitated by use of an Israeli software system Elexor that identified low Likud base turnout in previous elections and sent text messages to cell phones urging voting turnout. Should President Rivlin grant PM Netanyahu the right to form a new ruling Knesset, that would effectively dent the reputation of Avigdor Liberman and his right wing secular Yisrael Beiteinu party as ‘kingmaker’. Liberman, the former foreign and defense minister in previous Netanyahu governments scored only 7 mandates in this election.

Diker noted that Netanyahu has sought this development since his first election in 1996. Even Labor PM’s before him has espoused such a strategic move, especially in the wake of the June Six Days of War in 1967. The difference this time, Diker pointed out, is that the Trump Administration sees the importance of that security interest of Israel. But realization of that awaits the composition of the ruling coalition of PM Netanyahu’s fifth term and the re-election of Trump in the 2020 US national elections. Netanyahu promoted the view that he had maintained a “decade of peace” by containing Hamas and the Iran-controlled Palestinian Islamic Jihad. That, Diker thinks, has allowed Netanyahu to concentrate on the strategic threat of Iran-controlled Hezbollah both in Lebanon and Syria.

The discussion turned to recent meetings in Jerusalem with the general assembly of the Council of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations (COPMAJO) and a JCPA – sponsored round table discussion on the new book, Israelophobia and the West. Besides, Diker as both editor and co-author, the book contains articles by a broad range of authors including Israeli Arabs, black South African Christian leaders, and US members of the Black Caucus supporters of Israel. Diker noted that Israel is denigrated not only on US college campuses, but also by so-called ‘progressives’ in the US Congress as a “Nazi, apartheid racist state”. Israelophobia covers not only the rhetorical assault on the Jewish state of Israel but the sudden eruption of violence against individual Jews and communities, reminiscent of the Nazi final solution that took the lives of the Six million. What is insidious Diker propounds is that the Israelophobia rhetoric assault against Israel in the mainstream media amounts to lies as legitimate criticism. He noted it had in origins in the Soviet era in the 1960’s reaching a climax in the UN Resolution 3379 of 1974 that “Zionism is racism”. That took until 1991 to finally be overturned.
