Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon bring back Ken Timmerman, veteran Iran and Middle east watcher, New York best-selling author of "ISIS Begins". Timmerman is a renowned investigative journalist with access to the Trump national security team that antedated the current Administration. In this fast-paced conversation interspersed with banter, we address the conundrum of Trump’s withdrawal from Syria and Afghanistan, truculent relations with the US intelligence community over threats from Iran, North Korea and Turkey to the Kurds in Syria and Israel. We noted the comment of Lenny Ben-David former high ranking diplomat with the Israeli Embassy in Washington, now with the JCPA in a recent Jerusalem Post commentary on this issue saying: "[Secretary of State Mike] Pompeo and [National Security Adviser John] Bolton [who both recently met with Netanyahu] see the need for U.S. troops to be in Syria, period”. Timmerman agreed with Ben-David pointing out Trump’s team will likely maintain the large strategic base at Al-Tanf at the apex of the Iraq, Jordan and Israel borders in Southern Syria to monitor Iran and its Iraqi proxies. He noted that in the case of Trump’s commitment to maintain US Troops in Iraq that even members of the Iran-controlled Hashd Al-Shaabi militias he met with in northern Iraq recently expressed concerns about Iraq’s future with Iran’s deepening presence in the Country. In terms of a safe zone for protection of the Syrian Kurds against the threat of control by “Caliph” Erdogan he said that proposals such as a mixed Arab Iraqi Peshmerga or French, UK led effort with Syrian Democratic Force or possible Syrian Kurdistan National Guard would be acceptable alternatives. We discussed as an example the French G-Force in West Africa fighting the Islamic State in Bukino Faso and Sudan -backed Jihadists in Chad, where he had visited as a Paris based correspondent. Timmerman noted that the G Force has more troops and supporting air units than US forces in Syria covering five countries in the Sahel region. He scoffed at comments from a Deputy Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander threatening Israel with “annihilation” following an alleged successful test on the 40th Anniversary of Islamic republic of a precision missile capable of reaching Tel Aviv. Timmerman cited Iran’s recent space shot as to what the regime's real objective is. That while it failed to reach an orbit for a satellite, nevertheless it clearly sent a message that the Islamic republic was intent on developing an ICBM capable of attacking the US. When the matter of a high member of Iran’s judiciary rejected an EU plan that would finance business while evading US sanctions, Timmerman laughingly said "now the US had an agent in Tehran”. When we brought up attacks on IRGC and Paramilitary Basij bases by ethnic minorities -such as Kurds, Ahwaz Arabs and Balochis - against the Islamic regime, Timmerman made this observation. That fully 55 percent of Iran’s population are non- Persian minorities. That if these groups joined with opposition groups in Tehran and other major centers, it might foster regime change. Something, he suggested that Netanyahu and the Trump national security team understood as possible leverage. That possibility might be coupled with economic and financial sanctions that has given rise to roiling domestic protests across the country over inflation and unemployment. When asked whether Trump National Security Advisor Ambassador Bolton had developed an alliance of Latin American and European Countries supporting the interim Venezuelan President Juan Guaido to replace illegitimate dictator Nicolas Maduro, Timmerman chuckled, “Imagine that, John Bolton is now a multilaterist!” For more on Timmerman’s views on Netanyahu’s survival under threat of a possible Attorney General indictment, and Trump’s elusive Middle East Peace Plan and Trump’s 2020 re-election prospects listen to the Podcast.

Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon interview Dr. Stephen Bryen, former Reagan era Defense Official, premier military technology expert and columnist for the Asia Times. Kit is an important and engrossing discussion on a wide range of both Israeli and US missile defense issues. We delve into why the US Army and Navy are purchasing the jointly developed Rafael/Raytheon Iron Dome system that successfully destroyed an Iranian Surface to Surface Missile aimed at the Golan. The Iron Dome was designed to address short range rockets, mortars and demonstrated a capability to take down tactical missiles on the battlefield as well. We also raised the issue of why the intermediate level of the Israeli air defense umbrella- David’s Sling - has not been able to address missile threats from Syria. Bryen points out that the jointly developed Arrow -3 system was successfully tested recently is directed at destruction of nuclear equipped missiles in the exo-atmosphere. He also drew attention to the recent joint India-Israeli successful test of the surface ship Barak -8 missile system. We ask Bryen about the US Army purchase of the Israeli -developed sophisticated Trophy System for protection of armored forces that had its origins in the Second Lebanon War, when Israel tanks faced the Russian Kornet anti-tank weapons that Hezbollah used. The US Army has heretofore failed to come up with a domestic - developed system that had the advanced capabilities of the Trophy system. Bryen answers questions about the Russian developed advanced S-400 system that to date has no US/NATO equivalent with the ability to fire multiple missiles and advanced radar acquisition capabilities. The Russians have one S-400 system installed at the Hmeimim air base in Syria. The so-called ‘red phone’ deconfliction arrangements between Israel and Russia enables Israel to undertake missions against Iranian targets in Syria, which Bryen said Russia wants to prevent entrenchment. What is truly disturbing is the discussion with Bryen about the realities of an inadequate US Missile defense system. The most recent US Missile Defense Review tried to rationalize using the Stealthy F-35 equipped with a possible SM-3 missile to attack ICBMs in the critical boost phase. Bryen says the US may already have that capability in the fleet of 100 B-1 bombers capable of carrying upwards of four anti-ICBM missiles in its bays. Use of possible laser systems is impractical because of the large power requirements and intervals to reload shot. Bryen says that the US lacks an adequate missile defense system, which begs development of a new system, instead of the shoot to kill THAAD and Ground Based Mid-Course interceptors installed in South Korea and Vandenberg AFB in California and at Fort Wainwright in Alaska. When asked about the US suspension of the Intermedia Nuclear Force Treaty, Bryen suggests it is the Russian development of a new longer range 500-kilometer cruise missile recently unveiled. We also discuss both Russian and Chinese development of so-called Hypersonic missiles; i.e., anything that exceeds Mach 5 speed. He also points that there are no missile defense systems slated for installation on the vulnerable East and Gulf Coasts in the US. Hence, Bryen says, in effect “US missile defense is a myth”.

Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant​ and Jerry Gordon​ of Israel News Talk Radio-Beyond the Matrix interviewed Daniel Diker​, Director of the Political Warfare Program at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs.

We addressed the latest developments in the Trump Peace Plan leaked from a White House briefing according to both Ha’aretz and Channel 13 reports. The elements of the plan include assigning the Palestinians some 85% percent of the West Bank disputed territories, except for the large settlement blocks that would be retained by Israel.

Ceding significant parts of East Jerusalem for a proposed Palestinian State Capital appears to be a non-starter for most Israelis and supporters. PA President Mahmoud Abbas has long rejected the Trump Peace Plan. As Diker notes, Israel serves as an example of normalized relations with Arab citizens and residents in Jerusalem and throughout Israel, as well as the Arab -Jewish industrial zones in area C of the West Bank .

Diker notes that Israel is more concerned about the wider regional issues of Iran's nuclearization and destabilization of the entire Middle East. Diker discusses the JCPA assessment of the 'bottom up' Israeli normalization alternatives focused on confidence building by expanding employment opportunities for Palestinians at market wages in the West Bank industrial parks that employ from some 30,000 Palestinians whose employment rights are protected by Israeli Labor laws. He also revealed the historic confederation discussions between Israel and Jordan in the mid-1980’s that serve as a precedent for a regional federative approach to Arab stability and security today.

Listen to Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon as they interview Dr. Sherkoh Abbas President of the Kurdish National Assembly as they delve into the dynamics of the Syrian conflict pitting Russia, Turkey and Iran against the US-led coalition fighting the Islamic State and Kurdish allies who have valiantly defeated ISIS, Al Qaeda and jihadist terrorists, freeing and safeguarding minorities. The Syrian Kurds are threatened by Erdogan’s Turkish Islamist allies and Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and Shi’ite militias and proxies from Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bahrain and Pakistan seeking to ethnically cleanse their ancestral homeland of Rojava in northeastern Syria with its productive agricultural lands and oil and gas resources. Abbas suggests that, notwithstanding the US withdrawal from Syria, that other US coalition and NATO members such as France and the UK could establish a de facto no-fly zone of up to 35 miles from the Turkish Syria frontier. Both countries already have special operations troops in Syria. He warns that both Turkey and Iran are seeking to colonize Syria transforming it into a divided failed nation ruled under oppressive extremist Sunni and Shia Sharia doctrine. This leaves Russia seeking to maintain its bases perfecting control over Syria’s Assad government. Abbas doesn’t think the Israel current bombing strategy against Iran and its Shia proxies will succeed as Iran is playing the long chess game intent on perfecting the so-called Shia crescent from the Persian Gulf through Iraq and Syria to Lebanon that it currently controls. Abbas outlines why Kurdistan matters and could represent a model to remake the map of the Middle East directed at liberating Syria, Iraq and Iran from Shia hegemony into a federated state recognizing the rights of oppressed minorities like fellow Kurds, Lurs, Azeris, Ahwaz Arabs and Baloch. Minority ethnic groups whose homelands control the Islamic Republic’s energy and agricultural resources. He suggests a broad international coalition to achieve this objective encompassing the US, NATO allies, the UK, France, Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and others, isolating Turkey and Qatar, Muslim Brotherhood supporters of the Palestinian cause.

Recently, an Israeli icon, Rona Ramon, died of cancer. She was the widow of astronaut Ilan Ramon, who was killed in the Columbia shuttle disaster. Rona Ramon did a lot of charitable work, and was very popular in Israeli society. It was a shock therefore, to find out, that she wished after her death, to be cremated, and not buried - as Jewish law prescribes. It is such a terrible thing to be cremated in Jewish Law, that the case was brought to the High Court, to try to prevent the cremation from happening. However, Israe's High court rejected the request to stop the cremation, stating that... "the petitioner has no legal standing to object to fulfilling the will of the deceased, and to intervene in the matter between a person and himself and his family." So who's right here? What is the proper thing to do? Honor the deceased's wishes, or honor Jewish law?

Also, Tamar speaks with David Ben Moshe, an American Black man who served some prison time, and while serving his sentence, he started reading and studying about Judaism. He subsequently converted to Orthodox Judaism, and today lives in Israel with his Israeli wife, but he's stuck in a 9 month bureaucratic nightmare, trying to change his status to become an Israeli citizen.
