Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon bring back Dr. Stephen Bryen, former Reagan era Pentagon official, military technology expert and Asia Times columnist to address Iran’s capabilities in the current standoff with the Trump Administration in the Persian Gulf and Middle East. Iran has leveraged proxies in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and Gaza by transferring missile and drone technology to engage in asymmetrical warfare against US assets and allies as pushback for imposition of severe economic sanctions. Bryen noted that Iran cannot stand toe to toe with the vast power of the US military. That is exemplified in the redeployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier battle group from the Mediterranean to the Arabian Sea approaches to the maritime chokepoint of the Straits of Hormuz at the mouth of the Persian Gulf. Bryen is concerned about the offer of a Russian S-400 system to Iraq. That would threaten air operations out of the strategic al-Asad air base with 5,200 US troops in Anbar province and Israeli F-35s flying missions in adjacent Syria. A Katyusha rocket, with a range of 25 miles found with Iranian markings on its tail fin, that hit Baghdad’s ‘green zone’ may have been launched by an Iran – controlled Iraqi Shi’ite Popular Mobilization militia. These Iraqi Shi’ite proxies of Iran may have been transferred longer distance missiles such as the Zelzal (which has a range of 250 km), the Fateh-110 (200-300 km) and Zolfaqar (700km). These longer-range missiles equipped with large conventional warheads “would put Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh or Tel Aviv within striking distance if the weapons were deployed in southern or western Iraq”. Iran has effectively used relatively crude armed drones, that Hezbollah also possesses, that attacked Saudi pipelines and pumping stations from Yemen. Regarding anti- ship threats, Bryen said that Iran has both shore and fast boat mounted Chinese missiles that could attack US naval vessels. He cited a Hezbollah anti- ship missile attack from Lebanon that crippled an Israeli Sa’ar frigate. Iran also has mini submarines with small torpedoes and missiles. Bryen said that Iran has Russian-made Kilo submarines, capable of silent running with torpedoes capable of attacking US naval vessels. These may be the equivalent of the Israeli German - built Dolphin submarines. Turkey’s completion of its purchase of Russian S-400 air defense systems, alleged joint development of the S-500 system and Russia’s offer of stealth aircraft such as the SU-35 and SU-57 are indicative of the unraveling of NATO. Bryen suggested that is also reflected in the posturing of France’s Macron and Germany’s Merkel endeavoring to establish a European defense system. Merkel has labelled as geo-political threats China, Russia and the US.

We work hard in life, and seem like we are on an endless treadmill. Life is too important and fragile to take it in stride. Therefore the main questions we need to ask ourselves are, "Why are we here & what is the purpose of Life?" Once you know this, everything else should fall into place and bring you to the right path in life.

Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon bring back Kenneth R. Timmerman, veteran Iran watcher, New York Times bestselling author and investigative journalist, to discuss the dramatic developments in the Middle East. Timmerman noted how pivotal the intelligence was that a high-ranking Iran Revolutionary Guards intelligence officer brought with him. Apparently, the defector brought a veritable trove of information on Iran’s nuclear program, support for proxies in Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen threatening US allies and assets in the Gulf Region. That threatened Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, as well as Israel and Jordan.
Timmerman believes the defector information was credible enough for the Administration to dispatch the powerful USS Abraham Lincoln carrier task force steaming from the Mediterranean through the Suez Canal to enter the Arabian Sea confronting IRGC’s navy and shore -based missile threats. The Pentagon also deployed B52H bombers and F15Bs to the Middle East in a massive demonstration of force. Timmerman warns that unlike the 1987-1988 Tanker War during the Reagan era that the US Navy Seals and special ops won with Iran, The US Fifth Fleet and the USS Abraham Lincoln battle group now faces a serious shore-based missile threat developed by Iran and China. That might have the effect of keeping US naval assets offshore of the maritime choke point of the Straits of Hormuz that controls the flow of Gulf Region oil production to the world energy markets. Timmerman noted that Iran has used this strategy in Yemen via the Houthi Shi’ite rebels to launch missiles to damage Saudi oil pipelines to the Red Sea.
Iran may have used proxies to commit sabotage of Saudi tankers and a Norwegian vessel at the UAE port of Fujairah. Timmerman believes that the US sanctions have punished the Iranian Islamic State to the point that the mullahs have begun to believe their Shiite ideology. Asked why Secretary of State Pompeo took a side trip to Brussels before journeying onto Sochi to meet Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov and President Putin, Timmerman thinks it was to brief them on the vast intelligence brought by the high-ranking defector. He believes that the EU and possibly NATO officials that Pompeo briefed have understood the importance of this development.
Timmerman thinks that in the next several days, Iran may undertake further escalating attacks. Asked about the impact of this intelligence coup on Israel, he thinks that Netanyahu understands its importance and has recently demonstrated Israel’s ability to confront Iranian missile threats on three frontiers with Gaza, Lebanon and Syria.

Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon interview Dan Diker, Director of the Program to Counter Political Warfare at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs. Diker and Adam Shay of the JCPA have published a new monograph The PACBI Deception: Unmasked – Terror Links and Political Warfare Masquerading as Human Rights. The interview took place after the 48-hour rocket war against Israel instigated by Iran-controlled Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Iran-funded Hamas, a wing of the international Muslim Brotherhood movement. The 700-rocket onslaught against Israel resulted in deaths of four Israelis in Southern Israel, and retaliation by Israel resulted in 25 Palestinian casualties. Israel illustrated its precision counterterrorism strategy in Gaza with the first missile attack against Palestinian cyber warfare facility. Diker alleges that weekly violent protests on the Gaza/Israel frontier depicted Israel in Western media as operating ‘an open-air prison’ for the enclave’s 2 million residents. This was crafted to accuse Israel of human rights violations. The height of absurdity was the UN sanctioning Israel for use of the Iron Dome System for defending itself. Iran’s hybrid warfare involving proxies like the PIJ in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon deflected attention from its activities building missile and rocket facilities in Syria to attack Israel. Diker said that close intelligence cooperation between Israel’s Mossad, the US and several Western Intelligence agencies enabled the US to redeploy carrier and bomber forces to confront Iran threatening US allies and assets in the Gulf region. He drew attention in his book to the recent Sixth meeting of the Palestinian Academic & Cultural Boycott of Israel. The BDS National Committee brought together the Palestinian National and Islamic Forces (PNIF) terrorist groups composed of Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Palestinian Liberation Front, PFLP General Command for to deceive the West. it masqueraded as grassroots nonviolent human rights organization advocating BDS, while seeking to destroy the Jewish nation of Israel. Diker noted that the activities of the International BDS campaign have had no economic impact on Israel ‘s GDP. Rather it is meant to depict Israel as a violator of human rights, endeavoring to delegitimize and demonize it. Diker reveals that many Western European nations recognize that anti-Zionism against Israel is tantamount to Antisemitism. He addressed the conundrum facing the leaders of the US Democratic Party in Congress. Two Muslim women, US Representatives Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, use Free Speech to further the Antisemitic agenda of Political Islam of Iran and Sunni proxies - the PIJ and Hamas- both designated terrorist organizations.

Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon bring back for the 2019 Yom Ha Shoah commemoration program, Dr. Rafael S. Medoff, director of the David S. Wyman Institute for Holocaust Studies. Medoff is the author of a new book, to be published this summer by the Jewish Publication Society, “The Jews Should Keep Quiet: President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Rabbi Steven S. Wise, and the Holocaust”. It reveals the anti-Semitism of FDR and key cabinet officials, Cordell Hull at the State Department and Edward Stimson at the War Department. They blocked repeated calls by Jewish organizations for the bombing of the rail lines, bridges and crematoria at the Auschwitz-Birkenau killing center in Poland.
Excuses that the current US Holocaust Memorial Museum spokesperson perpetrates by saying the Nazis would rapidly replace rail lines and bridges, despite evidence to the contrary. In the summer of 1944 over 300,000 Hungarian Jews were deported to their deaths at the infamous killing center. Dr. Medoff invalidates excuses made by these FDR officials such as Jewish prisoners might be killed and it would constitute a diversion of the air war effort. All while regular bombing runs by the 15th US Army Air Force were made at the Monwitz- Buna artificial rubber slave labor camp less than five miles away. Testimony by air crew personnel on those bombing runs suggested the feasibility of destroying the killing complex. Medoff noted the personal witness of Elie Wiesel, then a camp inmate, seeing US bombers flying overhead asking why they didn’t bomb Auschwitz. In his recent article, “Every Generation Needs to Bomb Auschwitz”, Medoff drew attention to the failure to learn the lessons of the Shoah genocide after WWII in Cambodia, Darfur, Rwanda, and Bosnia. He drew specific attention to American missile strikes on Syrian chemical weapons factories. Medoff cited a report of the Global Publc Policy Institute of 338 gas attacks by the Assad regime in Syria between 2012 and 2018. It was left to the Trump Administration to order missile attacks that finally stopped the use of chemical weapons against hapless civilians.
General American support for protecting European Jews during the Shoah was evident in a poll taken in 1944 that showed over 70 percent of Americans favored bringing Jews to America. That was a change from the late 1930’s period of anti-Semitism in the US that the FDR administration used to deny refuge to Jews even when there were unused refugee visa allotments for Germany and occupied lands.

Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon interview Rabbi Jonathan, spiritual leader of Congregation Ahavath Torah in Stoughton, Massachusetts, a stalwart in the international free speech movement. We discuss kashrut traditions both Ashkenazic and Sephardi and the scriptural, Kabbalistic contexts of Tikkun Olam versus social justice interpretations by liberal Jewish denominations in the US. Tikkun Olan in the Kabbalistic traditions meant the obligation of Jews to observe Ha Shem’s mitzvot in daily practice of their faith. That led to discussion of why 9 US liberal American denominations and leftist peace groups have challenged Israeli sovereignty declarations of recently elected Israeli PM Netanyahu in a letter to President Trump. In the context of the Passover Haggadah reading, it meant that a supposed majority of American Jews did not understand that PM Netanyahu was asserting Israeli sovereign law to be applied to the Jewish communities in Area C, instead of military rules. Which led to a discussion of the contrast between young Jewish Millennials in the US versus Israel reflecting in polling by the Israel Democracy (IDI) Institute in the April 9th, election. The overwhelming majority of Israeli Millennials age 18-24 and young adults 25 to 34 in the April 9th election, cited by Rabbi Hausman from post-election survey data from the IDI, voted in favor of the so-called right wing. Rabbi Hausman said that reflected the experience of failure of the 1993 Oslo Accords to bring about peace between Palestinian Arabs and Jews, reflected in the 2000 Temple Intifada, the 2005 forced evacuation of 8,000 Jews from Gush Katif settlements in Gaza, the three IDF Operations in 2008-09, 2012 and 2014. It is visibly on display weekly since March 2018 in the violent protests, launching from Gaza by Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad of explosive balloons, fiery kites and rockets. It is compounded Hausman said by the weekly incitement by Palestinian Imams of hatred and random acts of violence by Palestinian Arabs against Jews in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria. It is motivated, in part, by compensation of terrorists and their families by the PLO-Fatah in the so-called “pay for slay”. Thus, against this background Israeli millennials overwhelmingly voted for a government to provide security to combat this Islamic doctrinal hatred. Meanwhile, misguided American Jewish liberal denominations persist in convey the false hopes of peace prospects as an act of Tikkun Olam social justice creating the divide between young Jews in America versus those in Israel.

Being a Torah Observant Jew is not easy. It’s a choice that requires sacrifices. It requires looking downright bizarre at times, to the rest of the world. Sometimes it means not only giving up everything we’ve ever known culturally, but also unfortunately, losing close friends and family connections.
On Today’s leap of Faith, I’ll be speaking with Judy Gruen who describes for us how she had to look her beliefs in the face and be open to new understandings which eventually led her to embrace Torah observance.
Judy Gruen is a writer and regular contributor on Aish.com as well the author of several books, the most recent of which is her memoir called, “The Skeptic and the Rabbi: Falling in Love with Faith.”

Did Israel attack an Iranian WMD Site in Syria? Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon interview Stephen Bryen, noted Washington, DC military technologist, Asia Times columnist and former Reagan era Pentagon official on the revelations following the latest Israel Air Force mission in Syria. It appears that the raid may have taken out an Iranian WMD site in Hama, Syria that appeared to be modeled on the disputed Parchin nuclear trigger test site in Iran. Bryen noted that the IAF air attack launched precision Delilah cruise missiles from the Northern Lebanon airspace that struck the Iranian surface missile production and training site. There were several Iranian and Hezbollah casualties from the IAF attack. The before and after satellite photos revealed the accuracy of the missile attack. No word on whether the Syrians launched Russian supplied S-300 air defense missiles. Bryen also discussed the recent loss of a Japanese F-35 in the Pacific and the strenuous efforts to recover the wreckage. We reviewed the problematic Turkish announcement of its acquisition of a Russian S-400 system and US holdback of further deliveries of the F-35; less than six have been delivered. Bryen spoke of the conundrum of the Incirlik NATO air base in Turkey and the necessity of removing US-supplied nuclear weapons stored there. The Iranian announcement of the leasing of the Port of Latakia with the Assad regime raised questions about possible threats to Israel. Tehran could establish a naval and possible submarine base on the Syrian Mediterranean Coast. We also discussed Russian objections to the Iran Latakia port deal which is near the Russian naval base at Tartus. Possible threats from the Iranian Latakia port deal could impact security of both Israeli and Cypriot offshore gas production platforms in their respective exclusive economic zones. Bryen proposed that in addition to Israeli naval and air surveillance that guns should be mounted on those platforms to repel possible attacks. Iran, he suggested, might not directly attack those gas platforms. However, it might use proxies like Hezbollah and Hamas. US national security echelons raised objections to Israeli Port Authority long term management contracts with a Chinese firm. Bryen noted that those contracts were apparently negotiated without consultation with the Netanyahu government. Meanwhile the US government has yet to interfere in Chinese management contracts in ports like Long Beach, California adjacent to a US Navy facility. Bryen noted that there are many Chinese port management arrangements in Asia, Africa, Europe, as well as Israel and the US.

Whether we sit right or left of the respective aisle, can we have different views on some topics than our co-lemmings? Can one support gay marriage, protect the environment, despise-or-love gun control and still oppose abortion on demand? The dumbing-down of independent thought has increased stridency to the point of severing friendships and compromising jobs and relationships. What does the Torah say about the sanctity of human life before, during and even AFTER death? An uncomfortable show for those who are brave enough to utter the words, "I. Don't Know."

The terrorists in Gaza are holding Israelis hostage, calling the shots on when to open fire on us, where to make our children sleep at night, and ultimately bringing down the Israeli government. Why does the Israeli leadership allow this to happen and not take out and uproot this terrorist entity? Tamar debate the pros and cons, as well as the 'how' to bring peace back to the region.

Has the Left in Israel sold out? Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon interview former Hebrew University professor and expert on Middle East minorities Mordechai Nisan, author of “The Crack-up of the Israeli Left”. He argues that the left maintains the mindset of Israel through the media, the courts, culture and military. This despite the rise of right-wing ruling coalitions in the Knesset since 1977 and especially over the past decade under PM Netanyahu since 2009. Since 1967 Professor Nisan argues that the left has been out of touch on two fundamental issues. It has not extended the Zionist commitment to Judea and Samaria. Further, it ignored the hostile environment surrounding Israel by myopically normalizing Arab Muslim rejectionist threats externally and internally with a hostile Arab Muslim minority. It is the product of the pre-state Yishuv left socialist doctrine and control exercised during the first three decades of the Jewish nation of Israel. This despite Ben Gurion espousing that Israel was a Jewish State for the Jewish people. That is reflected in the failed Oslo Accords of 1993, the dangerous pursuit of peace negotiations by Labor governments with Syria over the Golan in 1999 and draconian peace with the Palestinians under Arafat in 2000. Preceded by the abandonment of Southern Lebanon in the same year which gave rise to Iran-controlled Hezbollah. That is reflected in the context of the current tight elections between the Blue White center- left alliance led by former IDF General Gantz versus the center right coalition of PM Netanyahu. Professor Nisan persuasively argues in “The Crackup of the Israeli Left”, the Left “ could irresponsibly undo the good that the Right has done in matters of security, the economy, culture and on territorial and Palestinian issues. The Left cannot be trusted with the reins of government; the Israelis must deny them power and thus save the nation from catastrophe”.
