Skin Care

I’ve seen beautifully packaged luxury skincare filled with irritating ingredients – they remain top sellers because often people just don’t know better.

A Prayer For Eretz Yisrael

We turn to You, the G-d of mercy, You, who we fear and adore, Please heed our prayers and pleas and bring relief, For our battered souls cannot take too much more.

The American Indian: Descended From The Ten Lost Tribes? (Part I)

There were many who believed that some North America Indians were descended from Jews.

Easy Does It!

For your average Israeli, spicy hot might be fun, but not for me. Allow me to repeat - easy does it!

Green With Money

Now that Pesach is over, we return you to your regularly-scheduled pressing questions:   Dear Mordechai, Can I use a nose hair trimmer during Sefirah? Harry...

Succulent Meat

When working with garlic, a great shortcut I discovered in my local supermarket is fresh, peeled, whole cloves. It’s beyond worth spending the extra buck.

How To Avoid Shopping ‘Till You Drop

Who doesn’t want to save money? The siren call of sales lures us all, and few are able to resist stocking up.

Maple Bacon Cornbread Muffins

I usually find cornbread to be dry, but this one was very moist and served with a delicious maple flavored whipped cream.

Pastrami Eggrolls With Apricot Dipping Sauce

These taste the best served on Friday night paired with a glass of Tulip Cabernet Sauvignon.

It Started With A Sneeze (Part 1)

Spiritual Life Support

Many go about the business of living frum, observant lives, but they are only going through the motions.

The Joy Of VENTalation

Outside is a winter-white wonderland replete with dazzling trees, wires, and sidewalks seemingly wrapped in glittery silver foil. It’s quite lovely to look at, which is about all I can do since I’m stuck indoors. Icicle-laden tree branches are bent and hunch-backed by the frozen heaviness of their popsicle-like burden, and the voices squawking from the battery-operated transistor radio I am listening to are warning people not to go out since walkways and roads are extremely slippery, and there is real danger from falling trees.

Show Me The Service!

I am on a bus as I write this article and the ride will be at least 11 hours. For me, one of the big draws of traveling in a manner most would feel is quite tedious, is that several long distance bus companies offer free WIFI service. This allows me the opportunity to possibly enrich myself financially (by watching the ebb and flow of the stock market); educate myself (by reading various online newspapers, including The Jewish Press); entertain myself (downloading the many humorous, sometimes witty, satirical articles/photos/cartoons available to brighten a person’s day) or write a column, (and for a change not have the pressure of stressfully productive hours before my deadline) – all time consuming activities that should make time pass quickly.

The Amazing World Of Mimi

I insisted there must be some notes and they should be on file. All I got in return was a run around.

Back to School With Food Allergies

School is in the air. The leaves haven’t changed yet but they have lost their vivid green hue. New shoes, backpacks, fresh notebooks await that first day of school. For over 5 million US food-allergic students, preparing for school also means dealing with a host of challenging situations: recess; lunch time; birthday parties; cooking projects; special treats; school outings. How will these be dealt with safely?

‘No-ing’ vs. ‘Knowing’

Don't assume that the "no" from a doctor is based on "know"ledge.
